    NDU hosts NDEA 1st Gen Assembly for SY 2010-2011
    July 26 2010

    Around 400 representatives of the Notre Dame schools from three levels: elementary, high school and college attended the 1st General Assembly of the Notre Dame Educational Association for SY 2010-2011 on July 24, 2010 at the University Gymansium.

    The General Assembly started with a Eucharistic Celebration with Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, OMI, DD as the main celebrant.

    After the mass, the Business Proper of the Assembly followed which included the presentation of the new principals of some schools and representatives per area, approval of the minutes of the 2nd General Assembly held on February 2010 at Notre Dame of Tacurong College, the President's Report, the Treasurer's Report, and Commissioners' Report (Elementary, High School, College, Graduate School, Community Extension Services, and the CMRE).

    Presentations were also made on Ecology at Crisis and the Updates on the Mindanao River Basin. An investment opportunity was also presented by the group FAMI for member schools' faculty and staff.

    In the report of Fr. Eduardo G. Tanudtanud, OMI, the NDEA President, he gave updates on the CEAP regarding the Retirement Plan Assembly on September 21, 2010 and the CEAP Assembly on Sepetember 22-24, 2010 in Cebu. He also mentioned the CEAP Programs namely: Organizatioanl Strengthening and Capability Building, Networking and Linkages, Advocacy and Communications and Programs and Research.

    Fr. Tanudtanud proceeded to present the NDEA Challenges: Landscape, Strategy Implementation and Leadership and Structure.

    The NDEA Landscape includes: Peace Issues, Poverty, Education, Environment, Governance and Coordination and collaboration by the Association and among its members.

    For strategy implementation, he stressed the need to improve leadership and management capability, enhance programs on quality educational services, nurture spirituality and value formation programs, improve assessment and evaluate programs for curricular, instructional and academic administration purposes, develop financial sustainability, strengthen the spirit of camarederi, strengthen intercultural programs, enhance networking, maximize technology for consolidation and exchange of information.

    For leadership and structure, Fr. Tanudtanud commended Mr. Nestor Lemana who has served NDEA for 34 years. He is deemed retired on June 26, 2010. Fr. Tanudtanud told everyone that application for the position of Executive Director is open and those interested can submit application at the NDEA office.

    Finally, Fr. Tanudtanud stressed the strategic role of the different commissions and that is to be the: Life, energy of the association.
